Bryce Resort voted “Most Family Friendly Resort in the Mid-Atlantic Southeast Region”
What's the most family-friendly Mid-Atlantic/Southeast ski resort according to visitors to OnTheSnow.com, the oldest and most-visited snow sports portal on the Internet? It's Bryce Resort in Virginia.
The Web site, which attracts an audited 1.2 million individuals monthly during the winter, gave its visitors the opportunity to write reviews of all North American resorts and rank them in five categories.
Bryce received almost perfect scores in the family-friendly category in the region. The ratings were based primarily on readers' average ranking, number of reviews, and specific comments made in OnTheSnow.com over the winter season.
"More and more skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices," said Mountain News President and Publisher Rob Brown, whose company publishes OnTheSnow.com. "We believe the importance of reader advisories will continue to grow each year and these annual awards provide a peek into their thinking."
Reviewers were clear in their comments: "The ski school instructors were amazingly well-trained and the snowboard instructor I had with my kids was hilarious, fun, and professional… Everyone tucked in the little mountain is there to share what they love to do and have a good time…The people were friendly and it is very family oriented… I wanted a small family-friendly place to ski. This was perfect... The condos are great, nearby, ski school for kids was excellent, snow and lifts could have not been better. Lodge, food, nearby restaurants, people were all beyond expectations."
Bryce Mountain has catered to skiing families for four decades and is a two-hour drive from Washington, D.C. The area has 25 acres of skiable terrain. There are five lifts servicing eight runs. A wide variety of lodging choices in the community consist of condominiums, townhouses, chalets, and luxury homes.
