Wayside Theatre’s Young Performer’s Workshop Spring Session Recital scheduled
Young Performer’s Workshop (YPW) recitals at Wayside Theatre are scheduled for May 1 and 2.
All performances are on the Wayside Theatre main stage in Middletown at 7 p.m. Admission is free to the public.
The May 1 spring recital performance will feature the “YPW 1” Monday class, including: Miranda Smoot, Middletown; Marilyn Labadie, Stephens City; Madison Capitano, Winchester; Chloe Shenk, Front Royal; Jake Shelor, Fort Valley; and Josh Shelor, Fort Valley will all perform a one-act play. Student stage manager will be Kristen Unger, Middletown, and the play will be directed by Jennifer Hickok-Defratis.
The “YPW 2” Monday class includes Katrina Hukkala, Winchester; Angela Kramer, Winchester; Misty Daniels, Middletown; Anna Hammell, Winchester; Allison McCauley, Charles Town, W.Va.; Becca Shelor, Fort Valley; Kristen Unger, Middletown; and Kelsey Ritter, Maurertown. The student stage manager will be Eliza Kutrieb, Middletown, and the performance will be directed by Thomasin Savaiano. The YPW Musical Theatre Class includes Miah McPeak and Claire Frederiksen, both of Winchester, performing solos and duets directed by Thomasin Savaiano. Betsy Blauvelt will be the accompanist and Teresa McGraff will be the stage manager.
The May 2 spring recital will feature the following “YPW 1” Tuesday class, which includes: Natasha Vaught, Front Royal; Serenity Martin, Stephens City; Martha Beitzel, Winchester; and Emma Beitzel, Winchester. The students will perform a one-act play. Student stage manager will be Kelsey Ritter, Maurertown and the performance will be directed by Jennifer Hickok-DeFratis. Teresa McGraff will be the stage manager. The YPW Shakespeare class includes: Teresa Miller, Huntly; Miah McPeak, Winchester; and Asherah Capellaro, Strasburg, who will present monologues and scenes from Shakespeare’s plays. Stage manager will be Teresa McGrath and the performance will be directed by Richard Follett.
Wayside Theatre Young Performers workshop camps will be held this summer at the Youth Development Center in Kernstown. Two sessions of YPW 1 and 2 will run June 26 through July 7 and July 10 through 21. Also, for the first time this summer a one-week session of the YPW Musical Theatre Camp will be held August 14-18.
